Police in Berkeley, Calif., arrested more than a dozen people on Sunday as a small group of right-wing protesters violently clashed with hundreds of counter-protesters.
Officers announced they had arrested 20 people, predominately for carrying weapons, the department said in a statement.
The right-wing group — many dressed in Army gear or President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” caps — gathered for the “No To Marxism in Berkeley” demonstration, The Mercury News reported.
The group, however, was greatly outnumbered by counter-protesters, according to reports.
“Even though there were many hundreds of people, many of whom came armed and hostile, there were no significant injuries to anyone in the public or to City staff,” Berkeley Police said in a statement.
“The lack of injuries is fortunate given that extremists threw explosives at Berkeley Police and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office mutual aid officers,” the statement continued.
Three members of the public were treated for minor injuries, police added.
Revolution Books, a left-wing bookstore, was vandalized by right-wing protesters who ripped down a display after people affiliated with the store chanted “America was never great” and dragged an American flag on the ground, The Mercury News reported.
Police said that extremists smashed 21 city vehicles and slashed the tires of cars owned by the city.
One car and three dumpsters were also set on fire.
“Charlottesville never again,” counter-protesters drowned out the right-wing demonstrators with bullhorns.
The rally came near the one-year anniversary of the deadly protest in Charlottesville, Va., when one woman died protesting against white supremacists.
“Nazi scum, we’ll shut you down, Berkeley is an immigrant town,” the counter-protesters also chanted.
The Berkeley rally came the day after a self-described libertarian group clashed with antifa counter-protesters in Portland, Ore.
Police in heavy riot gear declared Patriot Prayer's rally in downtown Portland a civil disturbance and ordered everyone to leave, after demonstrators were seen hurling projectiles into the crowds.
It is Berkley after all.
Other than that it's standard spin. The media fails to identify who was committing the violence:

I was reading a BBC article about the Portland violence. The BBC called the Patriot Prayer group right-wing. And didn't even mention Antifa, only alluded to them as the opposing group. Made me sick.
What a crock of fermented horse sh!t.

Trump supporters were at Trump rallies and they blamed Trump supporters for the violence from the left who went to these events to cause trouble.
They started this 'narrative' long ago.

The lefties keep talking about “not allowing racism into our communities,” but I never see anything racist from the right-wingers. If they had racist signs or were shouting racist slogans, the media would have highlighted them; there was nothing of the sort.

They were very clear on this point. Revolution Books, a left-wing bookstore, was vandalized by right-wing protesters. But for all others it was those extremists.
Why would you expect the Hill to be a good source of info on this news.
I can tell you that the SF Gate article from yesterday was very good plus they has about 30 photos. Also, the Berkeley Side article was good

Made it sound like good folks all around had to do something about letting Nazis in uniforms spew hate and so some good townspeople the Antifa stood up and said “we’ll go and help you.” Unbelievable but that is going to get worse. It will soon be Trump rhetoric energized some potentially violent NASCAR country music hayseeds who then tried to attend a midterm candidates debate.
