I think we should be as forgiving as the left would be, if a similar joke was made about one of theirs.
We all must get away from the double standard. Right now it extends to the DOJ (Manafort treatment compared to Hillary's treatment). We must not tolerate a double standard: one for liberals and another for conservatives.

Sorry. I felt the need to circle the wagons and I wanted your wagon next to mine as the Antifa metaphorically encircles us.
From the escalator onward I was for Trump. I did cringe when he started with the nicknames and thought maybe he should make and keep friends first and then lean on them later.
But that is the old politics and never worked anyway. If Trump said, “Hey Kasich, loved your latest. Big fan, believe me. Come over sometime and we’ll have a picnic watdya say old pal?” Would that have made Kasich turn gracious to him during the Ohio nat. convention nomination week. No. Trump was nicer to Cruz who didn’t return the favor. The most gracious one at the 16 person debates was Huckabee and he got the lowest power and praise.

Come on folks, have a sense of humor. It was actually a funny line. It wasn’t vicious, it was a play on words. So let me see if this passes your "humor" test.
"Gabbie Gifford's attempt to be re-elected can be easily shot down",
of course her assailant was a left wing nutter so the comparison is not strictly apt. In neither case do I find it funny.
