The FBI was founded and built on lies and press coverage.

It probably did some good work over the years, in spite of Hoover.

They killed at least one innocent bystander in this raid.

#27. The FBI did GREAT WORK BECAUSE OF HOOVER. FDR and his Marxist/socialist advisors hated Hoover because he was exposing Soviet operations in the US whenever he could, He had some great men around him, including William Sullivan, Ray Wannell, Eugene Brennan, Claud? DeLoach, and others.

Considering the degree of Communist penetration of the US Congress from at least 1934 (Rep. Samuel Dickstein was an admitted, paid Soviet NKVD agent and he chaired the extremely powerful investigative Special Committee on Un-American Activities which was investigating both Soviet and Nazi/Fascist operations in the US). See; Alan Weinstein’s “The Haunted Wood” book for details.

In fact, there were so many publicly documents Congressmen who were either identified as secret CPUSA members or heavily documents supporters that the 5 volume set of documented reports on Communist Party USA fronts, known as Appendix IX, was ordered destroyed by those in Congress who feared its revelations.

[”Investigation of Un-American Propaganda Activities in the United States, Appendix IX, Communist Front Organizations with special reference to The National Citizens Political Action Committee, 1944].

I arbitrarily opened the combined volume with the First, Second and Third Sections of Appendix IX to find a “front” and see how many congress people where listed and here’s what I found.

Section 26, pp. 461 - 488, “American Propaganda Agencies for the Soviet System”, Exhibit 8, “Daily Worker, Sept. 29, 1943 - the official paper of the Communist Party USA, “Sponsors of U.S.-Soviet Friendship Rallies” - Sponsors of the tenth anniversary U.S.- Soviet Friendship Congress story on page 2) include:
* Congressman Joseph Clark Baldwin
* Senator Arthur Capper
* Congressmen John M. Coffee (id. as a CPUSA member elsewhere)
* Congressman Earl B. Dickerson
* Senator Theodore F. Green
* Sen. Joseph F. Guffey
* Sen. James E. Murray
* Sen. Claude D. Pepper (D-Fla) known as that time of Sen. “Red” Pepper. he later changed and left the CP sphere
* Sen. Elbert D. Thomas
Several governors from New Hampshire, Virginia, Massachusetts - Saltonstall, Indiana, & Maine
* FDR’s cabinet officials and heads of US Govt departments including the War production Board (V Ch); Asst Secy of the Interior; Secy of Interior Harold L. Ickes, a hardcore leftist.
* The heads of the top US universities including MIT, Un. of Denver, Un. of Penn., Princeton, Boston Un., Johns Hopkins Univer (position of signer not noted).

And just for shits and grins, Exhibit No. 13, Chapter 97, on the Soviet-created US legal front for the communists, the International Labor Defense (ILD), contains this gem:

Daily Worker, June 15, 1937, p. 4, “I.L.D. Announces List of Conference Speakers”: Delegates from every state to attend sessions in Washington, June 19, 20, 21 - Plans for coming year to be mapped at conference”.

A list of distinguished speakers and participants at the National Conference of the International Labor Defense, to be held in Washington, D.C., June 19, 20 and 21, was made public today....”The list of speakers and participants includes:
Congressman John M. Coffee of Washington; Congressmen Dewey Johnson and Hnery C. Tiegan of Minnesota; Congressman Joseph A. Gavagan of New York; former Congressman Vito Marcantonio (the CP’s secret member, he didn’t need a Party card to operate for them); Rockwell Kent, chairman of the National Committee for Defense of Political Prisoners (CPUSA member and key leader of many of their fronts, also a noted artist).”

Then the article proceeds to list ILD key members, most of whom were either open or identified high-ranking CPUSA members if not Soviet operatives.

The FBI was the one who helped Congress keep tabs on Soviet and CPUSA operations, front organizations, and propaganda efforts (some were “disinformation programs). The Congressional committees then held hearings and issued reports based significantly on the findings of the FBI.

Without the Bureau, the Soviets would have continued to infiltrate every single major US government office long after WW2, including our nuclear programs. Also, we would never have cracked the Soviet cryptographic operation known as “VENONA”, which led to the destruction of a number of Soviet spy rings, as well as putting the final nails into the red coffin of Alger Hiss, a Soviet GRU spy agent.
And the rest is history.

[ a little background history: The Congress of American-Soviet Friendship” was cited as a “Communist front” by the Special Committee on Un-American Activities, House Report 1311 on the CIO Political Action Committee, March 29, 1944,pp. 94 & 143. This group eventually became the cited “National Council of America-Soviet Friendship, Inc, which was cited many times as a Soviet front and a KGB operation even into the 1980’s by the FBI before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Soviet disinformation operations).
