I guess this new tactic fits as it is a lie, accusing others for what you are guilty of. Oh, it's a new tactic alright, but it's aimed at US, not Trump. Think of it as "insurance," because they know they're getting to need it.
What they're saying is "if you hurt us, we're going to blame Trump."
"That's a nice President you got there. Be a shame if anything happened to him."
