RUSH: Here is John in Rochester, New York. Great that you called. Glad you waited, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Hello, Rush. Its an honor and a pleasure to speak with you. Im gonna get right to the point. It seems to me that youre about to end the last show of your 30th year and nothing has been said about it yet. So I want to be the one who congratulates you and thanks you on behalf legions of Dittoheads and our Rush Babies like my children. You have meant so much to me. Ive listened to you since you started, and Im nervous and choking up here. But thank you. Thank you, sir.
RUSH: Im kind of not choking up here, but scratching my eyes a little bit. I appreciate that. I hear from people throughout the year who say nice things like you have. It never ceases to hit me, affect me very deeply, you know. Thirty years, some of it seems like I can just imagine some of those days 30 years yesterday. Some of those days 25 years ago are yesterday. Others it does seem like 30 years. On balance it doesnt, though. On balance it doesnt seem like anywhere near 30 years. I think its because my attitude hasnt changed in 30 years.
CALLER: Thats absolutely right. Even when I
There have been times I havent been able to listen to you because of work schedules. When the opportunity came back to listen to you again, I always found you, as I used to say, right where I left you. You are that consistent. RUSH: Well, you are very perceptive. I think you typify, you exemplify the exact way I imagine everybody in this audience. I think everybody listening here is involved and intelligent and aware, and thinks and shares a similar value system or value base. Thats why its so meaningful. This is why I understand the bond that Trumps supporters have with him, is because I have it, too, with all of you who listen to this program and nobodys been able to break the bond.
Would be a lost different landscape politically today without talk radio or internet dissention from the alphabet MSM daily talking points.
A lot different (not lost)
Discovered him tuning around the dial while sitting on a beach in St. Augustine, Florida in 1989.
Happy anniversary, El Rushbo!
CONGRATS to Rush Limbaugh for 30 years of EIB Excellence from the Rush thread poster!
Rush was the person that finally opened the eyes of Americans to the Leftist tilt of the Establishment Media. And it hasn’t been the same since.
I started listening to Rush when he was local in Sacramento California. I was a service tech on the road a lot and was always having to search on the radio for something to listen to.
I stopped on what I thought was an OLDIES station as there was an old song on. Imagine my surprise when Rush jumped in with his HOMELESS update. I was hooked for many years.
I was a listener to the David Gold show in Dallas about the time Limbaugh started up and came on either right before or right after Gold (who is also a FReeper). Kind of rounded out the afternoon.
Wow I have been listing to that old wind bag since 1990
Started in 93 and regular listener until the wun ascended.
He and the rest didn’t do much except complain some.
Ditto! Thirty years! If he lives as long as his ancestors, he’s just getting started!
Congratulations to Rush.
Thousands of us drove up to see him at Dan’s Bake Sale in northern Colorado in 1992.
As a citizen of Realville, I love my Mayor!
Rush’s TV show was ahead of its’ time. It was the precursor to shows like “The Daily Show”, albeit those shows were with a liberal bent.
You’re right. People could relate to Rush and wanted that.
I remember that many channels moved it to 1 or 2AM in the morning.....Bastards!
I started listening as a teen in 1993. Always hated that I could only listen to the first 10 minutes during school lunch period before the bell went off.
Summer vacation meant I could get the full three hours and watch his TV show that was aired at 11:30pm.
I’m close. I’ve been a listener since August 1, 1988. His first day of Syndication at one of the original stations, WXYT in Detroit.
Rush was sandwiched between Mark Scott, the guy who was tea party before there was a tea party and David Newman, a true intellectual.
I had tickets to the Rush to Excellence tour but couldn’t go. I think my wife gave birth that night or something equally momentous. I guess I made the right decision.
Congratulations Rush. Found him in 1992 by chance on the radio when driving.
