This is all part of The Patriot Act, and it is nationwide....not just California.

IF you don’t want the Real ID, I don’t know if you can get a regular style driver’s license.

Keeping in mind that California & Nevada (where I live) are giving driver’s licenses to illegal invaders, I don’t mind having the real ID.

It is much harder for women, tho, than men. I have to find every piece of marriage & divorce papers I can because my name changed 2 times. I changed it back both times to my maiden name, but I am NOT sure where all those records are. My Nevada license doesn’t expire until a couple more years, but by 2020, we all have to have such ID to fly. I CAN get a passport which will cover me to fly, and I don’t know that will happen when my current license expires.

Call all your ex-husbands lawyers....I’m sure they have all the info and the bills to prove it...

It’s all for nought. DPS workers have knowingly sold legit licenses to people in crooked cash deals for decades. Cases come to light now and then. Require passports, not driver’s licenses. Too many crooked employees and even crooked states.

From what I understand...we’ll have to get a “Star ID”....but I think that was delayed to 2020? We can’t fly domestically or enter a Fed building w/o a passport or said ID.

Ran into the same situation when I renewed my license. After getting the document run around due to previous marriages I finally wound up with a regular license.

They insisted the name on my marriage license had to match my birth name. Wouldn’t happen after prior marriages. Totally po’d when I left the office

Finally, I am in the process of renewing an old passport so it can be used for a real ID license.
