Alan Dershowitz said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is hoping that Paul Manafort will opt to testify against the president, rather than face a lengthy prison sentence.
Manafort faces numerous charges, including conspiracy to commit money laundering, making false statements and working as an unregistered agent of the government of Ukraine. If convicted, he faces decades in prison.
He's also facing separate conspiracy charges in Washington, D.C. His trial is set to begin Tuesday.
Appearing on "America's Newsroom," the Harvard Law professor emeritus said that if Manafort is convicted, it would give Mueller an opportunity to question him about the president's actions.

POTUS has the power to stop it all today. What he lacks is sufficient political cover in Congress from the timid “moderate GOP” contingent. Ryan, etc.

In political terms, POTUS can’t realistically pardon Manafort when it appears (even appears) that he has something damaging to the Trump campaign that he could testify to.
I predict that if the dems do not take the house in the mid terms, President Trump will pardon.
He’s already been assured of a pardon. My late uncle was in the circle with Nixon, Bebe Rebozo, Agnew and Mitchell. I have an early understanding of how this $#*+ works based on listening in. And Cohen is just communicating to Trump through the media. All Kabuki theatre.
PDJT can fire his AG and Mueller and Rosenstein together.
