Prayers for Capt. Hughes, his family and friends.
Continuing prayers for all in harm’s way.
horizon wondering if or not it will reach your home....
Over the weekend, we approved fire management grants for the following wildfires:
- The #ChelanHillsFire in WA
- The #MendocinoComplex Fire in CA
- The #GrassyRidgeFire in ID
- The #ParkRoadFire in TX
Just reviewed more recent data. Seems the Carr fire has been pushing westward and holding on the east. THis endangers other communities IF the fire explodes westward like it did last week towards Redding. Much, much rougher terrain to the west.
You bet. I don’t know how they do it!
Just horrible.
The fires in California are all over the place, like in Hell.
When a person loses compassion for human life they are closer to being atheist Marxists or Nazis in their thoughts than than they are to being Christian Constitutionalists.
At that point they are no better than the abortionists on the left.
It’s a crazy spitting fire that’s for sure. However they are making headway bit by bit....lots there to help now. But fire does it’s own thing so there’s no guarantees. Really terible it’s destruction...
I believe God gives these men what they need to even dare go into fire fighting let alone fight against it. Always burning heat and intense sweating and danger etc.etc etc. etc.....
Yes - the weather will play a big part. However, I found a PDF about forest management about Alabama (older article) and they had it that the “current” (1980’s??) losses were at 0.5% due to forest fires, which they deemed as acceptable. (Down from 4% in the 1950’s).
California was at about 0.8% loss in 2017 as far as I can tell. So pretty good I thought. But then in that same data Alabama only had 20,000 acres burned in 2017 - so a percentage of only 0.08%! Alabama also had the third highest number of acres of prescribed burns as well.
Of course add in those prescribed burns - and maybe you are back up to 0.5%!! Although the prescribed burns don’t cause the total devastation to the trees and structures.
Anyway - the 0.8% doesn’t seem all that out of the ordinary for other places around the country. But in California it makes the news as it is in folk’s neighborhoods and causing a lot of death and destruction. The fires burning in the remote areas of Montana - who cares!?

They’re amazing.
