In the next war, carriers will quickly become fine underwater habitats for marine life.
As long as Chinese students are allowed to spy and steal at the whim for Chinas Government, you will see a robust.building of the military with modern technology.
They charge us 25% to enter their market, force us to give them 50% ownership of companies operating in China and the intellectual property owned by said companies. They get free access to our market. With no real restrictions. We are getting screwed big time by China.
Meanwhile the traitors in Congress just passed a "free trade" law that prohibits tariffs on imports from China. We are governed by fools and traitors.
I’d hate to be on the maiden voyage
How many Chinese destroyers collided with merchant vessels last year? Home many ran aground. Our new womanized PC Navy is not your father Navy.
I’m just guessing, but I suspect that the “Chinese super carrier” will remain devoid of effective aircraft and aircrew until it rusts to the bottom. Just like China’s many empty “super cities”. Just my $.02.
In a war of the major militaries surface ships are obsolete. These ships are only good for small military actions. One nuke destroys a whole fleet.
Once China built super Junks and explored the world, nine masted 400 foot long teak wood ships—then all was lost when China imploded. China could blow up in Civil War—too many poor people being exploded by too few rich flys in the face of Communism. Only war will keep the Chinese masses from revolt against their masters.
While all that is true, there is no way you can discount experience. It’s the same as the Chinese reverse engineering their current carrier-bourne aircraft. They have copied the SU-35 and have had so many failures the aircraft isn’t truly a front-line fighter. While it may look like a SU-35, it isn’t.
Same way with other copies of Soviet-era military hardware.
The problem is the Soviets were good at making low-tech, easily repaired, non-precision type hardware which doesn’t take a lot of support. That could give the Chinese a leg up.
My concern is the Chinese have been working at improving their readiness. We, on the other hand have been sitting on our hands. We are more concerned about PC than being able to kick-ass. I hope this doesn’t come back to haunt us.
Are you not aware that a high proportion of homosexuals and transgender personnel directly translates to higher operational readiness?
Except of course for the occasional hen fights...
Yes and I’m sure I’d be willing to follow an attack squadron leader with the call sign of “Miss-Fit”. Who now is Stephanie after being Steven through flight school. How ‘bout you?
I’d love to serve on the carrier USS Kara Hultgreen, along with the Miss-fits! Such a stylish squadron!! I’ll bet their dinner parties are absolutely smashing!
I meant previous war. As long as there is one woman and two men, there will be war.
I think thats what the Brits said about the dreadnaughts.
The high ground wins. THAT is projection of force in the 21sr century.
And right in the middle, the Japanese multi-purpose operational mother ships" (soon to have ski-jump ramps welded to the fore end of the [flight] deck).
So true, so true.
Experience is near gone now. We’ve got AA crashing ships at sea.
Can i get one at Walmart?
I hate to disparage this generation with a broad brush because I know there are kids who are serving (and dying) proudly serving this country.
Where I have a problem is the politicizing of most of the institutions that this country was founded upon. I know, as a Vietnam era vet the scorn we received from the general public when we would be in uniform.
To this day, I will not fly Delta because of some actions of a couple of stewardesses (Oh, excuse me...flight attendants) when I was in Atlanta waiting for a mil stand-by flight home.
I was discouraged to see politicians undercut the readiness of our troops and also the stupid ROE’s that put our guys at a disadvantage. I wonder how many we lost needlessly?
So where are we now? Have we lost the leaders in the upper ranks? Are there no young Halsey’s and Nimitz’s to inspire and lead? If not, it doesn’t matter if we are technologically superior. War is about killing people until the other side quits. Pure and simple. You need only look back to Korea to see the Chinese will expend lives for a political objective.
Ping.
