The ONLY reason we use the cable company is because they have the highest speed internet. That’s it. Once technology equals that out, the cable company rape will cease in my house!
High speed Internet is the only reason I care about cable at all.
The spouse has to have the sports stuff. That means nothing to me.
We are both big on TCM. At some point, I may join backlot.

I've been captive to Comcast for over 30 years because they are the only high speed internet service in my area.
I've considered Direct TV and Comcast combination, but then it's about equal in monthly payout {which is about $200} and it's more than I paid for my last 40" Smart TV.
I once had DSL for internet but it's like drilling your own tooth with a hand held Black and Decker, NFW, never again.
That is the same in our household. We only use the cable for the internet. Then with Hulu Plus and other options, we pretty much watch what we want.
You can still keep the high speed internet and ditch cable tv. Just switch to streaming. Been doing it for 10 years,
