It fell on my ears as a ludicrous scheme, as if they were a band of highly imaginative children planning a Brinks robbery; a lark trumped up on a snowy night amongst a group of spoiled brats over booze and hashish.
To me, this sounded silly. I was enduring culture shock after having been cut-off from my homeland, living in Third-World countries for years with not one trip back to the United States. I was one of those people who, upon returning to American soil, fell out of the plane blubbering with ecstasy at being home in the USA. I knelt on the ground covering it with kisses. I had learned just exactly how delicious was the land of my birth and didn’t care what anyone thought because they just hadn’t seen what I had or been where I had been. As I’ve said on other threads regarding this topic, Hollywood will try to “normalize” pedophilia using the same playbook that they used for homosexuality. It won’t happen overnight, instead, they’ll phase it in gradually. You’ll start seeing TV shows where a passing, non-judgmental reference is made about an unseen character being a pedophile. Later, they will start showing up as minor characters in TV and movies. After that, they’ll have recurring roles on sitcoms as the “goofy but harmless” neighbor or coworker. These recurring characters will be praised as “groundbreaking” on award shows. We’ll start seeing them in commercials as well. as companies are pressured to be “more inclusive” in their advertising. Eventually, programs will include a dramatic episode about the recurring pedophile character being the victim of a hate crime perpetrated by a “narrow minded bigot” who disapproves of his lifestyle, with the other characters rallying around their pedophile friend. The wheels are already in motion.
