NBC News reporter Ken Dilanian suggested Monday that President Donald Trump would hurt the livelihoods of Obama administration alumni by taking away the valuable commodity of their security clearances. Dilanian (pictured, bottom center), who covers the intelligence community and national security issues, accused Trump of seeking to levy a financial penalty on former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper both of whom are paid contributors at cable news networks.
Brennan now works for Dilanians employer NBC News as an MSNBC analyst. Clapper has since joined CNN in a similar capacity.
He further insinuated that federal employees should consider resisting the order if the president gives it, lambasting Trump for what he called an extraordinary threat of political retribution.

Why? They still have their “expertise”, don’t they? Of course, they will no longer have a LEGAL right to classified info. But then, somehow, I doubt neither they, nor their IC contacts, have ever been concerned with legalities. If their income from divulging state secrets, dries up, then, gee, that’s tough toenails. If the MSM won’t get access to the fodder they want, in order to try to bury Trump, that’s just too bad, too, isn’t it?
These people are so far gone, that they cannot see that their complaints about leakers losing their security clearance, show just how decadent, depraved, and immoral they’re proving themselves to be.
I read something earlier this year that inferred Dilanian was a CIA asset.
Amen!
Even LeBron cannot muster up the sympathy on this.
A security clearance is not a right...it is a privilege, and as such, can be taken away.
Wow. These people are wicked.
So is the Judge overseeing the case.
Crapper and Beanshit can always go and kiss a Bolshie donor’s a$$.
lmao at Yeb! on the milk carton.
How does this square with liberal screeching that these guys aren't monetizing their clearances?
YES because they are SELLING OUR SECRETS!
Take away EVERYONE’s NOT DOING GOVT. WORK!
Too bad. So sad
It used to be unheard of to have the former heads of cia and nsa making public political statements. Silence needs to be the rule again. I dont want them spouting secrets on the nightly news.
Please note 32 CFR § 147.14 Guideline LOutside activities (from "adjudication guidelines")
(a) The concern. Involvement in certain types of outside employment or activities is of security concern if it poses a conflict with an individual's security responsibilities and could create an increased risk of unauthorized disclosure of classified information.
(b) Conditions that could raise a security concern and may be disqualifying include any service, whether compensated, volunteer, or employment with:
(1) A foreign country;
(2) Any foreign national;
(3) A representative of any foreign interest;
(4) Any foreign, domestic, or international organization or person engaged in analysis, discussion, or publication of material on intelligence, defense, foreign affairs, or protected technology.
Point #4 was written just to deal with talking heads who seek to leverage supposed expertise as a result of having a clearance.
And the problem is...???
Nobody should get a financial windfall nor expect one from a security clearance. Thats just wrong. America has millions of security clearances out there. And there are several that should not exist. Certainly those who make money on them should have their clearances taken away. Or at least put on hiatus.
Should have them executed.
Boo-effin’-hoo.
So who provides the secure server and pays for it? They no longer are employees, so who pays for it? Maybe they go the Hillary route, but it needs to be looked into. What if they get hacked?
