Thank you for referencing that article detective. As usual, please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"Expected power demand is expected to outstrip California’s available generating capacity by about 5,000 megawatts on Tuesday, according to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO)."

Noting the summer ’17 dates on the following articles, I guess that I shouldn’t be surprised to see contradictory information about what’s going on in California.

Corrections, insights welcome.

California’s solar energy supply is not matched to the electricity delivery grid. In other words, the kwh’s produced by solar energy can’t reach the customers.

Therefore they must sometimes pay other states to take the excess kwh’s from California.

Thus, the titles of the two articles:

“California invested heavily in solar power. Now there’s so much that other states are sometimes paid to take it”

“California’s electrical grid can’t handle all the solar energy the state is producing”

The Solar Farms had and have nothing to do with our electricity usage, they were setup for the Military and their brand new Meteor Cannon out in the Nevada Desert.
