"Expected power demand is expected to outstrip Californias available generating capacity by about 5,000 megawatts on Tuesday, according to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO)."
Noting the summer 17 dates on the following articles, I guess that I shouldnt be surprised to see contradictory information about whats going on in California.
California invested heavily in solar power. Now there's so much that other states are sometimes paid to take it LA Times, June 22, 2017
Californias electrical grid cant handle all the solar energy the state is producing (July 20, 2017)
Corrections, insights welcome.
California’s solar energy supply is not matched to the electricity delivery grid. In other words, the kwh’s produced by solar energy can’t reach the customers.
Therefore they must sometimes pay other states to take the excess kwh’s from California.
Thus, the titles of the two articles:
“California invested heavily in solar power. Now there’s so much that other states are sometimes paid to take it”
“Californias electrical grid cant handle all the solar energy the state is producing”
The Solar Farms had and have nothing to do with our electricity usage, they were setup for the Military and their brand new Meteor Cannon out in the Nevada Desert.
