A new report on the agencys efforts found that the EPA was a net deregulatory agency, and a highlight of President Trumps effort to eliminate many Obama-era regulations.
Whats more, the American Action Forum report found that Pruitt set in place an anti-regulatory mindset that should keep the EPA at the leading edge of deregulation under Trump.
In the report, provided to Secrets, Goldbeck cited these highlights:
Final rules from the agency produced nearly $350 million in cost savings and cut more than 300,000 hours of paperwork burdens. In addition to specific rulemaking actions, Pruitt established the framework for a substantial shift in EPAs mission and practices. The most notable changes included: narrowing the agencys regulatory scope, reforming the practice of sue and settle, and re-examining the data and analytical processes used to justify rulemakings. While EPAs leadership will change, the Pruitt-era policy changes will almost certainly continue. The agency is on track to exceed its deregulatory target for this year, and it is only a matter of time before its most high-profile deregulatory measures (e.g. Clean Power Plan Repeal and adjusted fuel efficiency standards) wind their way through the rulemaking process. The fact that EPA was a net cost-cutter during his tenure is significant, said the report.
Goldbeck lists specific changes that led to the savings, but also emphasized the impact of Pruitts war on how the agencys pro-regulation culture has changed.

More good news. The EPA should be abolished.
After November would be a good time to do it.
All the $ saved in federal budgets
should be reallocated to building
the great wall of the USA.
agree, especially since it was defense money already :)
It was sad that Scott did himself in, because he was going through the EPA like Grant Through Atlanta!
With a little help from William Tecumseh Sherman.
It’s a start.
wish he was still there...
24 Jul: Bloomberg: Trump to Seek Repeal of California’s Smog-Fighting Power
By Ryan Beene, Jennifer A Dlouhy, John Lippert, and Ari Natter
The Trump administration will seek to revoke Californias authority to regulate automobile greenhouse gas emissions — including its mandate for electric-car sales — in a proposed revision of Obama-era standards, according to three people familiar with the plan.
The proposal, expected to be released this week, amounts to a frontal assault on one of former President Barack Obamas signature regulatory programs to curb emissions that contribute to climate change. It also sets up a high-stakes battle over Californias unique ability to combat air pollution and, if finalized, is sure to set off a protracted courtroom battle...
If Trumps plan sticks, it could be his biggest regulatory rollback yet...
Congress didnt intend for California to set national fuel economy standards, said Steve Milloy, a policy adviser for the Heartland Institute, a group critical of climate science. Its nutty its been allowed to develop. National fuel economy standards are set by the federal government so thats what we are going to do.

For all those who hated Pruitt
I seem to remember an article which said that the guy coming in after Pruitt is a worse nightmare to the left than Pruitt ever was.
BUMP!
Re: “I seem to remember an article which said that the guy coming in after Pruitt is a worse nightmare to the left than Pruitt ever was.”
Unfortunately, that claim is being made by the same news organizations that destroyed Scott Pruitt.
If Andrew Wheeler, the current Deputy Director, was worse than Pruitt, the MSM would have destroyed Wheeler, too!
Drillin’ their gas and kickin’ their @$$.
How about slashing a whole bunch of people?
Bkmk
The real problem is that when people get in control they set up these fiefdoms and the money is flowing in and they have all their little goodies delivered, and the one thing they don't want is someone upsetting their easy draw on the government teat.
