Atkins was traveling, but in a statement she said the driver and car was “a courtesy extended to the pro tem emeritus for his security, considering numerous death threats against him.”

Secretary of the Senate Daniel Alvarez, whose office oversees the protection detail, told us de León “got more threats than anybody else” in the leadership job because of his prominent role in advocating for gun control and making California a sanctuary state.

So we California taxpayers get to pay for a car and driver to haul de Leon around to his campaign events.

Kevin de Leon is getting death threats?

I didn’t send him one.

My bad. Been busy lately.

What a shocker. A Dim gets a chauffeur with taxpayer dollars.

“Secretary of the Senate Daniel Alvarez, whose office oversees the protection detail, told us de León “got more threats than anybody else” in the leadership job because of his prominent role in advocating for gun control and making California a sanctuary state.

“People were spitting on him,” Alvarez said.

Jonathan Underland, communications director for de León, told us his boss continues to be assigned security on a regular basis “consistent with past processes and the high volume of serious threats against him.”

Among those threats, we’re told, was a person who wrote a letter warning he knew where de León’s family lived and someone else placing cameras outside his home in an apparent attempt to intimidate him.

Alvarez couldn’t immediately provide us with a breakdown of the costs, but he estimated the state is spending “a couple of hundred thousand dollars” to furnish armed drivers this year to both de León and his successor, Atkins.

As for why de León isn’t paying for the car and security from his U.S. Senate campaign coffers?

“It’s just a judgment you have to make,” Alvarez said.”

Just like his fellow “Politicos” down in Mexico.

And the truth is, he’s just plain old Kevin Leon. The “De Leon” is his own fabrication.

It’s not surprising that the king of decadence, flaming homosexual, anti-gun nut Kevina de Leon needs an armed body guard for protection. Hypocrite!

I am really thinking that cali is the most corrupt state we have. LAWP gets 250 mil or bil each year and they are raising water rates each year. Caltrans does nothing during the day but watch porn they quit fixing roads some time ago.
