The Art Institute in SF is a huge landowner. My niece was looking to go there on a softball scholarship, of all things.
Tuition is ridiculous, as was the scholarship offer. They own a bunch of property in SF. Surprised they are still there and haven’t sold out.
I used to work in a restaurant with a lot of students from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
And yes, pretty much all of them played for the other team.
That's a different institution, not affiliated with the national network of Art Institutes. Their San Francisco branch was called the Art Institute of California or the California Art Institute. The city sued them for shady practices and they had to pay millions to the city. The Art Institute of Chicago is also not affiliated with the Art Institutes.

The only training in the fine arts that you really need is how to schmooze your way into the gallery scene. My young friend, Ricky Paul, hung himself in studio 8a of the SF art Institute in 1988 while taking a class in “extreme performance” called Music and Theater that was not on the official curriculum. Oh yah, it was “taught” by Christopher Coppola, nephew of Francis Ford and brother of Nicholas Cage. After showing initial interest in a wrongful death law suit, Melvin Belli’s office dropped it like a live grenade.
