She’s accused of “being a Russian agent” (whatever that means), not “spying”. Spying means violating the Espionage Act, taking classified government information from a secure location, and putting it into an unsecured location. Like a server in the basement. Her “crimes” seem to be meeting people and talking to them.
I’ve read that the issue of registering as a foreign agent is often not complied with. Sounds like there is legislation proposed that would make it easier to define and enforce. As of now, there is some gray area associated with it.
I think they are trying to turn her as a tool against Trump. Otherwise I think they would release her. Or they may be trying to turn here from Russian agent to supporting the US.
Who knows with these vermin.
