Moderate Dems meet to save party from the socialists
American Thinker ^ | July 23,2018 | By Rick Moran

With radicals preparing drum head trials for Trump, his supporters, the rich, and just about anyone who disagrees with them, Rep. Ryan might want to rethink his desire to be "rich."

These moderates appear to be the only Democrats who realize the danger the party is in:

But some elected officials in relatively conservative areas say progressives are clueless about what their agenda would mean for Democrats outside major cities and the coasts.

"We will be a permanent minority party in this country," said Iowa state Sen. Jeff Danielson, a firefighter who represents an area that saw one of the biggest swings from Barack Obama to Trump during the 2016 election.

Moderates said they feel they're being drowned out by louder voices on the left.

Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., a member of the House Democratic leadership who represents a district Trump won, invoked Richard Nixon's "silent majority."

"If you look throughout the heartland, there's a silent majority who just wants normalcy. Who wants to see that people are going out to Washington to fight for them in a civil way and get something done," she told reporters.

That's an extraordinary admission from Rep. Bustos. The radicals oppose "normalcy," which isn't a surprise to most of us, but is unusual coming from a Democratic member of Congress.

Realistically, the Democratic moderates have no better chance of impacting the direction of their party than GOP moderates have in influencing Republicans. This situation predates Donald Trump's presidency, although the polarization has gotten worse in the last two years.

Former FBI director James Comey warns the Democrats not to "lose your minds" and embrace socialism. It is probably too late for that. The question now becomes, will socialism sell in the heartland?

At least some Democrats are convinced it won't.

“If you look throughout the heartland, there’s a silent majority who just wants normalcy. “

Those aren’t democrats Ms. Busty.

Actually, they used to be democrats.

Remember Kim Davis, the county clerk in KY that refused to sign same sex marriage licenses? She and her husband were lifelong democrats from democrat families. They are now republicans.

Do stupid stuff, win stupid prizes. i.e. the democratic party is giving up two “normal american” democrats for every one batsh** crazy one they pick up. It will not go well for them.

These moderates are swimming against a very strong current. Instead of joining in the anti-Trump hysteria after the election, maybe they should’ve begun meeting over a year ago. What, the fact that Hillary had to cheat to take the nomination away from Bernie Sanders wasn’t clue enough that a big problem was building?

What are a whole lot of self described “moderate” democrats going to call themselves in 2020?

Republicans.

Plus these Leftists are going to turn the same Alinsky tactics on moderate Democrats that they’ve been using on us all these years. Have fun, guys.

These “moderate” Democrats are nothing more than scared as s**t libs who are smart enough to see their party is in deep trouble. They all thought the Russia narrative was going to get Trump driven out of office so they didn’t pay too much attention to the Communist and Socialist drivel that was coming out of the woodwork and taking charge of their party. Their attempt to get Trump out of office and now the true Berniebot Commiecrats have taken charge for the whole world to see! Hey Dems! Good luck putting that Commie genie back into its bottle! You are now officially the Commucrat Party of America!

There is so much irony out there. The worst, most despicable Democrat politicians get all the publicity from the media while the more moderate ones are ignored. The MSM also exaggerates small blips by Republicans and PDJT - with screams and lies.

We should really be ecstatic that the biggest blimp in the public arena is actually Hillary Clinton who just can’t shut up and go away. It really is a plus for Pres. Trump - as even those who voted for Clinton realize (from her bizarre behavior) that a disaster was dodged.

Sounds good to me somehow.

The beginning of the end was at the 1968 convention.

"The beginning of the end was at the 1968 1896 convention."

Fixed it for you. The purge of the Conservative Bourbons like Grover Cleveland in favor of the Socialists like IL Gov. John Altgeld and William Jennings Bryan was the beginning of the end for the Democrats.

Good response. Either 1968 or 1972 was the point of no return—all that is going on now is the purging of any evidence that the past was different than the present

GOP "moderates" are RINO's which equals Dems. The influencers in the GOP just want their party back from the RINO's. On the Dem side it's different, the Moderate Dems are welfare statists, just slightly more Left that Socialist Democrats - basically they are all socialists at heart.

Democrats tried this ‘moderate’ PR in the ‘90s as the ‘Democratic Leadership Council’, headed up by Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

And it's time at the wheel of the Democrat Party officially ended with Hillary's loss.
