VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Residents of a Georgia city are pushing to change the name of a residential street to Barack Obama Boulevard.
**SNIP**
Rose says the name should be changed because Valdosta city leaders named Forrest Street in April 1883 for Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was also an early leader of the Ku Klux Klan.

Wouldnt that be the delicious irony.
Wishing I’d not seen your post.
Our son lives in the far southwest suburbs, we drive it often.
Now feeling nauseous.
Hipsters don’t live in the suburbs. I live in downtown Atlanta surrounded by hipsters. I don’t see a lot of enthusiasm for Stacey Abrams. Very few yard signs. My senior center is a polling place, it was very quiet on the day of the primary, very few voters.
I remember four years ago when Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, ran for governor and Sam Nunn’s daughter, Michele Nunn, ran for Senator. Yard signs all over intown Atlanta, lots of enthusiasm.
This year feel completely different.
Robert Byrd was a Demorat and also head of KKK.
Thanks for that post.
The German American Bund in the mid 30s to just about until December 7, 1941 had a camp there. They were pro Nazi. This was a combination summer camp for Americans of German descent and also personal year long homes. Pvt. Irving Berlin was not welcome

Is it the street that goes to the city dump?
A congressional investigation in the 1870’s cleared NB Forrest of any relationship to the Klan.
Didnt one of those just get elected as President?
I have been spending my hour before bed watching the election results from 2016 on Youtube. (Such a great day!) And the pudding head pundits expected that Georgia would turn blue. Why? Hispanic increase. However, they learned that the Hispanics only increased Hilary’s numbers by 1%.In other words, either they were enrolled but did not vote, voted to DJT or the good people of Georgia got out the vote to dampen their effect.
There weren’t many yard signs for Hilary, but she still managed to be competitive in the swing states. New underestimate the power of the democrat machine.
