The University of Arizona received $772,060 in taxpayer funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in fiscal year 2018 to study the sleep health of Mexican-Americans on the U.S.-Mexico border. [ ]
Short sleep duration, insomnia disorder, and sleep apnea are highly prevalent in the population. These conditions are associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, daytime functioning problems, and poor mental health, [the grant description] stated.
The studys researcher noted that there are disparities in sleep health in racial and ethnic minorities, including Mexican-Americans. Furthermore, social-environmental factors at the US-Mexico border may play an important role in sleep health disparities. According to the grant abstract, Mexican-Americans are at increased risk of sleep disturbances. [ ]
When asked why he chose to specifically focus on Mexican-Americans on the border, [project leader Michael] Grandner said, This population is unique in that Mexican-Americans represent a very large group of Americans that are often underserved by these research efforts. I hope to gain a better understanding of how all of these variables fit together in this community and leverage the unique strengths and address the unique problems that this group faces.

Once Trump takes office, all this Deep State spending nonsense will stop. Oh, wait...
And we wonder why we’re broke? Our government needs to get over the idea that it’s “other people’s money,” and do it fast!
and who has oversight on how they spend tax taxpayers dollars??
They role a fat joint, smoke it, rape some kids and just doze off.
Phil Collins could make one mean Dirty Burger. RIP Phil.
> The problem is the establishment Republicans. <
Bingo. Trump is delaying it, but I’m guessing that - eventually - we’ll be a one-party welfare state. And that one party will be the Democrats. The Republicans might elect a few officials here and there. But demographics - and wild promises - will give the liberals permanent national power.
I hope I’m wrong. But if it does happen, the establishment Republicans will be to blame. They did nothing when they could have changed this whole country around.
Dont worry, social security is not going insolvent.
“Once Trump takes office, all this Deep State spending nonsense will stop. Oh, wait...”
Unfortunately this government is like a sinking boat that’s been machine gunned full of holes, so there’s just no way Trump can be expected to plug them all overnight. Especially when you have a Senate that operates on “manana time” when it comes to approving new people for appointive office. Then when they arrive at their new posts, they find out that the entire workforce is not going to to anything to help make any changes at all!
Real name Richard Collins, FTR.
Phil Collins from Genesis sang “Illegal Alien”.
Have they done a study on how well the ranchers along the border sleep?
Why is our tax money going to a stupid study like this?????
What is the gain for the taxpayer?
.
My hunhc: Just Deep State politics as usual - a kick back to some Deep State politicians buddies.
