Glad you got it sorted. I don’t know about your situation, but my simpler one made me feel like I was dealing with a multi-handed creature...and none of the hands knew what the other hands were doing. I didn’t owe money but there was some kind of issue with several IRA rollovers. They kept sending me forms to fill out as if I were the organizations holding the IRAs. Never could get them to understand I was the customer/IRA owner. Even the financial institutions didn’t understand it. Eventually, they stopped mailing letters. (I responded too every letter they sent.)

Heck...my kids can sort it out when they inherit the IRAs.

Very similar experience. Multiple agents, multiple answers.

I do not think your children will inherit IRAs. Not to dissuade you or persuade you but the government is sort of eyeing IRA accounts as a way to save social security from its problems. My amateur economists guess is they will someday absorb the IRAsm into the SSA fund. I think a similar thing may happen with these states with underfunded state pension programs, that they will be absorbed somehow as the tentacles of the ever growing federal leviathon expands maybe take all states into a national program royally screwing the states that acted responsibly.
