Never sent me a letter. Just seized my account. Eventually got it sorted.

I love those phone calls. I especially love the one I received with the caller having a heavy Asian accent. “You do bad thing. You go jail. You send money, you no go.”

Yes. I've gotten one or two of those in my time. And they don't come out of DC. They come from Holtsville, New York. Usually in registered letter form. They want to make sure you've been notified and you're right, don't ignore them. They'll make your life miserable if you do. They aren't all that happy about having to rattle your cage. They're willing to work with you if you're honest and don't try and bs your way out of what ever the issue is. Best to just get it over with.
