Totally cool. Perfect. I seriously like it. He has more ingenuity than most people for sure.

He was building it faster than the rust was taking it apart. That's all that counts.

He should start mass producing these and selling them in the USA. It costs him $590 to build and people waiting for their Tesla would gladly pay $999 to own one of these. I bet it gets great mileage.

“Totally cool.”

Agreed! As a kid we built a go-kart out of some old wagon wheels (a really narrow base), 2x4 lumber and a rope for the steering. The second year we had it we actually had the rope around a spool hooked up to an old steering wheel. Had a Briggs and Stratton motor on it and a centrifugal clutch. The motor we got for free from a a neighbor, and my buddy and I went in halvsies on the clutch. (After a few years we dismantled the thing - he kept the clutch, and I never did get any money back. Not that I'm still bitter 45 years later or anything).

He and I were the only ones that could drive it okay - everybody else would tip it over it was so top-heavy.

In the winter I would “tune up” the engine in my basement. Take it apart, clean stuff, and put it back together again. Never could figure out why it ran better with the 1 or 2 bolts/screws that were left over! This would have been 4th - 6th grade I suppose.

Crazy to think my mom let me do that stuff in the basement. “Turn it off!!” I do recall my old-man ragging on me (a little) for not cleaning up his tools and putting them back.

My sister emailed me earlier this year that my “racing partner” passed away. (Hmm - I don't suppose his wife might come across the centrificul clutch?) RIP Mike.

He was the guy that my mom would always blame all the trouble we got into on.

I was the guy that Mike's mom would always blame!
