It's been three weeks since Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement from the bench and just 10 days since President Trump named U.S. Circuit Court Judge Brett Kavanaugh as his replacement.
Since then, Kavanaugh has been meeting with a number of Senators on Capitol Hill, shepherded by Vice President Mike Pence and former Arizona Senator Jon Kyl.
According to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who will oversee the upcoming confirmation hearing, Kavanaugh should be fitted for his robe and confirmed to the Supreme Court within 70 days.
"Judge Kavanaugh is one of the most respected jurists in the country. Hes among the most qualified candidates to ever come before the Senate. I look forward to carefully reviewing his record," Grassley said during a Committee business meeting Thursday morning. "Our process in the Senate Judiciary Committee will be thorough, modern, and efficient. Well use newer tools to review more material than we ever have before. All members of this committee will have far greater visibility into his record and judicial thinking than they have had with any previous nominee. And with this extra visibility, I can foresee no reason to stray from the timelines of previous high court nominations. We completed our work on the nomination of Justices Kagan and Gorsuch within 70 days. So, I expect to do the same in this case."

Meanwhile, Schumer has refused to meet with Kavanaugh, and all the democrats have followed their "leader."
He should have been rock steady on that judge just pulled off the 9th circuit list.
I heard that Schumer and his henchmen, requested a million pages of documents to review? Which if true, begs lots of questions. It’s not like Schumer and company are going to review his background. They are going to vote no, no matter what.
Ryan Bounds has lost a couple of Pubbies and doesn’t have a majority support. Grassley cannot control that. As has been said by others, the Bounds nomination might be renewed with the new Congress and a larger Senate majority.
Schumer needs to be smothered in hildabitch’s “load filled” depends.
McConnell issues Supreme Court ultimatum

Mitch McConnell has a warning for Democrats demanding copious documents on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh: Be careful what you wish for.
The Senate majority leader privately told senior Republicans on Wednesday that if Democrats keep pushing for access to upwards of a million pages in records from President Donald Trumps high court pick, hes prepared to let Kavanaughs confirmation vote slip until just before Novembers midterm elections, according to multiple sources.
BOOM----Delaying the vote past September would serve a dual purpose for McConnell:
<><> keeping vulnerable red-state Democrats off the campaign trail,
<><> potentially forcing anti-Kavanaugh liberals to swallow a demoralizing defeat just ahead of the midterms.
Senators said McConnell believes the Democratic base will be deflated if they raise hopes of defeating Kavanaugh only to lose just days before the election.
Has Kamala Harris met with him yet?
Or is her office still rudely saying they want ‘nothing to do with Kavanaugh’. Probably because he’s a white man. Ask her.
The document thing is Schumer's tactic to stall the nomination vote to a time he hopes that he is majority leader. That and some nugget of information might be found to bork Kavanaugh.
With the prospect of four GOP defections, the confirmation is no sure thing.
Huh. Somehow he never got around to ask for the million of Hillary emails. I wonder why?
Grassley wants Kavanaugh confirmed by the time the new court term begins in October. It is, however, difficult to predict the political situation in September/October when the vote would take place.
Meanwhile, Schumer has refused to meet with Kavanaugh, and all the democrats have followed their “leader.””””
Same for Kamela Harris.
Yes, remember in 2005 when the Roberts hearings were just getting started, and Rehnquist died.
Things can turn on a dime.
If that’s their approach, I’d think they should be ready for a vote in record time.
MITCH IS AN IDIOT HERE.
BETTER TO RUSH THE CONFIRMATION.
GET HIM SEATED.
I see good cop bad cop here——Grassley’s saying he’s as good as seated in 70 days....McC is scaring Demos. Its all good.
