Is Bounds not the 9th Circuit nominee that several FReepers were against a couple of weeks ago, for being too liberal? There was only one nominee put forward for the 9th, wasn’t there?

No, that was Bennett, who was nominated (and confirmed) for the Hawai'i seat on the 9th Circuit. Bennett is a Republican and former Attorney General of Hawai'i, but is not very conservative. The problem with filling that seat is that it's awfully hard to find a conservative Republican in Hawai'i.

Bennett was a horrible choice for the Ninth Circuit. He’s 65 years old and is socially liberal.
