It is a strange fact that many socialist agitators are the sons and daughters of wealthy parents. Is there something in being from a wealthy family that creates so much guilt that your want to tear down the system that creates wealth?
Fortunately I was born into a poor family and had to work hard for what ever I got. I can appreciate the opportunities our nation provides someone to move up the ladder sort of speak if willing to work hard.
Socialism assumes no one can make it without government fixing the rules. They believe if you become wealthy it was not because of anything you have done but because you cheated so you have to give all you have earned to those too honest to “cheat” or would that be too lazy to work?
From ANNIE HALL (1977)
Alvy Singer: You, you, you're like New York, Jewish, left-wing, liberal, intellectual, Central Park West, Brandeis University, the socialist summer camps and the, the father with the Ben Shahn drawings, right, and the really, y'know, strike-oriented kind of, red diaper, stop me before I make a complete imbecile of myself.
Allison: No, that was wonderful. I love being reduced to a cultural stereotype.
Alvy Singer: Right, I'm a bigot, I know, but for the left.
