Remove three Californias plan from the ballot, [CA] Supreme Court says

The California Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in favor of opponents of a plan to divide California into three, saying the measure should not appear on the November ballot.

The court instructed Secretary of State Alex Padilla to refrain from putting the measure before voters pending further review, “because significant questions have been raised regarding the proposition’s validity, and because we conclude that the potential harm in permitting the measure to remain on the ballot outweighs the potential harm in delaying the proposition to a future election...”

The environmental nonprofit Planning and Conservation League and political attorneys alleged that breaking up the state is a “revision” of the state constitution and requires support by two-thirds of the California Legislature before it can go to the 2018 ballot.

Notice a legal reason was not sited. It was just their opinion and that opinion was even requiring more contemplation. Can you say protect the Democratic party treasure chest of electoral votes. Preemptive strike!

I dunno Jim that plan might have aided the GOP with a few tweaks, at least in the House. "California" proper was a loss, but consider if "Northern California" and "Southern California" could have been gerrymandered to contain the illegal vote in narrow corridors.

It might sound crazy at first, but that's focused on the idea that California's current State Assembly would draw the legislative borders. Negative.

There would have to be initial plebiscites for each of the three new states, and the GOP slates would be a reasonable bet to win Northern California outright, and a sporting chance to take Southern California.

After that, wow, the current CA delegation in the House? 39-14? F that.

After the three-way split, 27-26, or thereabouts. That alone would give the GOP a head start at a House supermajority.

Obama already has his “57 states”, the members of the Organization of Arab States. Greedy little bastard isn’t he?

What state that has a big city is NOT dominated by that city?

It is the power of the city which allows political control of the state. Chicago, for example, is the economic powerhouse for the whole region. If it sneezes the rest of the state catches colds. Their power will only grow.
Bitching about the big cities in the most scabrous terms possible is not going to change this process.

Another unpleasant fact is that civilization itself is a product of cities. The word even comes from the city.

They have arisen because of basic economic facts and are difficult to create at will.

There is no probable with cities per se (that is where new cultures are created (for good and bad) but with stopping and reversing the minority created Leftist control.

True, and I imagine, except maybe in lefty California, the suburbs are more Republican - the city strictly itself is what is Democrat.

Note: this topic is from 7/18/2018. This is just a re-ping. Tim Draper's earlier brainfart was to split California into SIX new states.
