“”We executed the Rosenbergs for espionage.””
Interesting - I just finished the book “In the Enemy’s House” about the work over a large number of years of breaking codes that allowed the Russian spies to be rounded up. It took a long time to get to the Rosenbergs but two of the FBI agents on the case were positive that Ethel Rosenberg had no part in the spying at all. They spoke up to Hoover about her to no avail. She was executed along with her husband. Her brother Glass who was knee deep in the spying received a prison sentence. His wife was also deeply involved and not a single charge was brought against her. Seems like selective investigating and prosecution by the DOJ/FBI has been going on a long time. The difference in the treatment of the women involved was staggering.

I bet they cooperated with the FBI.
