“They are fighting against a done deal.”

I remember when repeal of Obamacare was a done deal. It the current Senate it will take only two GOP no votes to defeat this nomination if the Democrats hang tough.

The US Senate is a club of 100 egomaniacs who crave media attention. On the Republican side Collins and Murkowski frequently vote with the Democrats. This year Flake and Corker are both exiting at the end of the year and might vote against the nominee as a parting jab at Trump. McCain has a legacy of going against the party on key votes. If he resigns or dies before the vote, his replacement may make a mark by voting no.

Many of these Senators are tainted if not corrupt and vulnerable to extortion. Public interest groups, the DNC, and Soros are spending millions to defeat this nomination. Bureaucrats in the deep state with insider knowledge of FBI files, phone calls taped by the NSA, or IRS records may leak dirt to the press or the public interest groups.

When all it takes is two defectors, it isn’t over until the vote is cast. Murkowski and Collins together can sink this nomination in the name of protecting women’s health. Flake and Corker will suffer no repercussions by voting no since they are going out. Sasse is another GOP Senator who would love to poke Trump in the eye. It is as possible this nomination will fail with 5 or 6 Republican Senators voting no as it is for a narrow victory.
