“Official time” is when an employee who is a union rep gets to sit on his butt up to 40 hours a week doing “union business” but not his job, all while getting paid by Uncle Sugar.

The union at the SSA should look at the reforms at the VA to see what’s coming down the tracks.

I would call it “OFFICE TIME” in the private business world.

It has become very difficult for employers to keep persons working ONLY on the job they were hired to do. Entitlement is a big problem in the work place. I have a neighbor who quit his long time job over the 2 19 y/o’s who refused to park their cell phones & whom he caught playing ‘Hacky Sack’ in the parking lot over & over. Management wouldn’t take care of it, so he quit. That location closed about a year later. I can only guess that my neighbor was the ONLY glue holding it together. His new company has drawn many of his prior customers—following a person who knows how to do the job.
