Hundreds of protesters turned out again Monday, taking over the same block of 71st Street where police shot and killed a man in the South Shore neighborhood on Saturday.
The protests continued after police made the unprecedented decision to release body-camera video of the incident, less than 24 hours after it happened.
It's been two days since 37-year-old Harith Augustus was shot and killed during a confrontation with Chicago police officers. An independent investigation into the shooting is underway, but several groups say they don't trust it.
"I think that Mr. Augustus' constitutional rights were violated," said Maxwell Little, South Shore resident. "To weaponized somebody's blackness is against the law."
Chicago police released body camera video Sunday. Augustus was stopped by police who believed he had a gun.
"We're not trying to hide anything," said Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. "We're not trying to fluff anything. The video speaks for itself."
While the footage appears to corroborate the police department's version of events, there is no audio to determine what led to the confrontation.
"We need to know who the officer was who actually did this and they need to be held accountable," said Maria Hernandez, Black Lives Matter.
Witnesses to the shooting shared another video of the aftermath, in which they saw three officers running from the shooting and getting into a police car. CPD would not confirm how those officers may or may not have been involved.

okay so he didn’t have a concealed carry permit. I imagine he has a big long record too.
these asshole protester think it’s okay to pull a gun on a cop. this just tells you they’ll protest anything.
Facts didn’t matter in the trayvon case either, or the michael brown case- Thugs just wanted to loot and burn and destroy things- and no amount of facts was going to deter them
If I ever found myself in that situation, and cops were putting hands on guns, I would assume that I was going to die if I made any sudden moves. There would be no jerking of arms away from the cops, there would be no running while reaching, there would be nothing.
I can believe that they might shoot me if I do what they tell me, but I KNOW they will shoot me if I do those other things.
I would rather survive to call a lawyer, than have to take a dirt nap.
Exactly and they will use it to grind whites into the ground unless whites stand up as whites against It.
He was violent. 4 cops were trying to restrain him. Before you chime in read the whole story and not from the MSM. Go to secondcitycop.com.
Those rioting, also known as subhumans, could care less about facts. Their main concern is mob rule as you state and with any luck free stuff from looting for any reason.
Where is BLM in regard to the upswing in murders in Baltimore?
I believe that site and a blog called Second City Cop (linked on that page) are run by police who contend that City Hall lies about crime in Chicago.
Go figure.
“It’s been two days since 37-year-old Harith Augustus was shot and killed during a confrontation with Chicago police officers.”...
Watch the video. Lets face it, he needed killin!
Just another excuse to jump around and screech and throw stuff.
The hate-America crowd doesn’t care about facts. They do care about adding to the narrative that (White) cops murder innocent blacks who were on their way to the library to study after turning around their lives.
This is our Wild Kingdom.
If I had to live in that area, I'd damn sure carry. According to news reports, he had his FOID but not his CCW.
The Illinois legislature in their wisdom has pegged the cost of a CCW at $150 (you have to pay to get trained to get it). I hope that gets challenged in front of Kavanaugh at SCOTUS, becuase that's not small change to someone working a low wage job... in fact it's discriminatory.
Having said that, the coroner should label this man's death as due to resisting the lawful directions of a police officer...
Any notion of lawful/unlawful carry or illegal search goes out the window when the officers visibly attempt to restrain him and he runs away, then draws on the officers.
“My problem with this event is that the police version is that the victim was exhibiting the characteristics of an armed person and, because there is a right to be armed in this country, that isnt a justification to search him, let alone to murder him.”
You are not allowed to be illegally armed in the city of Chicago.
