Well, maybe video killed the radio star AND all the aliens.

From Robert Repicky’s Latin textbook (have no idea who he was) purchased at the TG&Y in Abilene, Texas, c. 1970:

“Latin’s a dead language, as dead as it can be.
It killed off all the Romans, and now it’s killing me.”

My guess is he didn’t get an A for originality.

Updated:

“Changing climate’s a dead issue, as dead as it can be.
It killed off all the aliens, and now it’s killing me.”

So, a fictional issue among fictional beings in a fictional place caused a purely fictional die-out? What video game was the good Professor playing?

Easter Island was not a civilization to begin with.

So no aliens evolved on cold planets. Got it. Set beebers to stun.

” . . . what Frank calls a “10,000-light-year” view of anthropogenic (human-caused) climate change.”

Not sure how much credence I’d put in somebody who doesn’t even know the difference between units of distance and units of time.

Frank, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester in New York, is the lead author of a new paper published May 1 in the journal Astrobiology that aims to take what Frank calls a "10,000-light-year" view of anthropogenic (human-caused) climate change.

I know for a fact that I would enjoy An OST (original Star Trek) six hour session much much more...

Any aliens capable of visiting us from distant solar systems or galaxies would be more than capable of terraforming the planet to their liking.

Then the new climate would become _our_ problem.

(Alternatively they could live in underground caverns...even a dumb alien could figure that out!)

As a kid I was fascinated by the Erich Von Daniken "Chariots of the Gods" books. Today, I don't believe we have ever been visited by aliens, but the etchings on the plains of Nazca and other ancient creations are still fascinating.

I guess these were the "crop circles" of ancient times
