California Democratic Party leaders took a step to the left Saturday night, endorsing liberal state lawmaker Kevin de León for Senate in a stinging rebuke of Democratic icon Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
De Leóns victory reflected the increasing strength of the state partys liberal activist core, which was energized by the election of Republican President Trump. The endorsement was an embarrassment for Feinstein, who is running for a fifth full term, and indicates that Democratic activists in California have soured on her reputation for pragmatism and deference to bipartisanship as Trump and a Republican-led Congress are attacking Democratic priorities on immigration, healthcare and environmental protections.
De León, a former state Senate leader from Los Angeles, received 65% of the vote of about 330 members of the state partys executive board more than the 60% needed to secure the endorsement. Feinstein, who pleaded with party leaders meeting in Oakland this weekend not to endorse any candidate, received 7%, and 28% voted for no endorsement.

So Feinstein is not as left as some Democrats. Oh Please! But De León is not a far left extremist? No such thing. Except on the right.
Best can hope for is for some Cal Democrats in areas of close House races stay home. Not that is necessarily likely.
Can hope the Hollywood Dem waste much money in the state for no net gain.
But lose a woman Senator
Decades feeding the alligators, hoping they eat you last. Dems are gator ding at this point.
Like lemmings running for the sea, there is a race to the Left in the Democratic party. You can’t just go a little Left, you have to out-Left everybody else. This has destroyed “triangulation” and “centrist” Democrats as a viable political option. What made Bill Clinton’s candidacy work was his pretense that he was a centrist. And, he did a lot of things that were centrist to create the illusion that he was a moderate. These were all window dressing as when culture ratchets to the Left even one click, it will never go back.
What has so disturbed the Left and riled them up is that Trump came in and destroyed their ratchet. All that “progress” is at risk. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!!!! So, the party’s extremists want to seize the levers of power and overcorrect the wrongness that is Trump. This will destroy the party, as the middle of the country doesn’t want to end up like Venezuela.

MexicoFornia is nearly complete.
California Democrats endorse Stalinist over Marxist incumbent. Film at 11.
Yes I would say 65% to 7% is a stinging rebuke. She was a lefty, but in today’s world, compared to the rabid left, she was a centrist - meaning she’s not totally insane.
I wonder how long it will take before Pelosi is considered too moderate for the Kali Kommies.
With Venezuela and Cuba being such shining examples of their politics, I just wonder what kind of bad drugs their voters take to vote trash like this in?
BIPARTISANSHIP??!! Really??!!
The Demonicrats rebuked Feinstein only because they found a replacement who is even more traitorous.
Feinstein is one example of many senile political hacks that refuse to call it quits.
A prime example of Senate Senility is the Senate Judicial Committee.
When these senile Senators gather for a hearing, it is like a caricature from a cartoon of a bunch of very old people presiding over the fate of an accused person.
Grab the popcorn.
Ack, he cant even pull his pants up properly!
WTF?!? I thought only Blacks can be "Icon?" (Civil Rights icon). Black female singers are "Divas," and Black Rap producers are "Moguls."
And all her seniority in the Senate!
There are several districts where an old black Democrat is in congress representing a mostly Hispanic district. Wait until those start changing hands...
I have been sort of predicting she will be gone, however your 2 sentences are the most succinct explanation to date. Bravo SMG!
The Class that gets sworn in in Jan of 2019 in both the House and Senate will be a stunningly different. All bets or off now, we have had at least 25 R's retire, I have forgotten how many Dem's have retired, a bunch of Dem's have resigned and left office already, and if we run the table, we pick up 10 in the Senate, 40 to 50 new faces, and that might be on the low side....
They just decided not to support the Corporatist who’s gotten rich from big business donations as a politician, Diane Feinstein.
Sham Wow fake conservatives in the GOP and liberals with the Dems.
The new faces of the Dems -DeLeon and the Marxist in New York...the RNC could make an ad showing them...and then have a picture of Trump and the economy...then a picture of a Venezuelan supermarket with empty shelves...
