Based on what happened for the Sochi Winter Olympics going in, I had doubts about how Russia would do.
They did great! Hopefully seeing the impact of tourism will be a positive for Russia, be nice if they made it easier to get visas to travel there.
Others did as well....but they certainly pulled this off very well as many now decrying news that tried to say otherwise.
Seldom we see Putin really smile but when the Pres. of the fifa told him this it was very obvious Putin was happy...
I was thinking along similar lines. World Cup was a money-maker for Russia. The Olympics…maybe not so much. None of the Olympic’s overhead by comparison, that’s for sure!
Same reaction. Based on Sochi, I expected a disaster. Been a good cup. Brazil & Germany knocked out early, England going to the semis, an underdog in the Final. Better than usual.
