Syrian Kurdish forces are still present in the Afrin (Efrin) area. Every week some of the Turkish supported Islamist militia members, who are committing these atrocities, are killed. That will not end either, until it is over.

Atrocities like this are not forgotten easily. Often such actions keep enmity burning through generations - even centuries.
This one survivor is almost certain to impress this story on his children and grandchildren. So many stories like this, across so many in the community, ensure that it will be a strong lesson in their culture, long after perpetrators are dead and gone.
