It quickly became apparent to them that “Sum Ting Wong”.
And that’s on top of the extra 25% you already pay for the corner room with the Public Security Bureau listening devices.
We stayed in Guangzhou (China Hotel) for a couple months about 15 years ago. Our hotel rates were $500 per night for the first couple weeks. My husband was on a work assignment and since it was going to be so long, the company paid for my son and my ticket. We were on a “tourist” floor and dim sum breakfast was available in the morning and all staff spoke English.
If I remember there was a big trade show in town, and after the trade show, the rates went down to around $250. I just checked the website of the hotel, and it looks like the room rates are still $250. I imagine more hotels were built and they had more competition. Back then, there were not too many good hotels to stay in.
Americans should take heed and cancel their trips to China.
Commies always screw ya...that’s what they do. Why is this a surprise??
Hmmm... My experience in the 3rd world is that very often Euros and Americans get charged more, sometimes a lot more, than if a local negotiates the price before the owner / proprietor / manager / clerk sees you...
The entire first article and the accusation are all false. I knew this from the first moment the propaganda was announced.
There is a process...
A procedure...
To follow when changing hotel room rates.
You have to request the hike, and then justify it. It takes week to wind it’s way through Beijing. So when you see an article about a hotel “suddenly” making such a change, then you know that it is FAKE NEWS.
