You’re his boss. He works for you. Doesn’t the buck stop with you, Mr President? Why don’t you pick up a phone and ask him? Mueller would like that. He could then accuse Trump of conspiring to undermine his investigation. Trump needs to keep all communications between him and Sessions very public if they in any way touch upon his campaign.
