Interesting point. In my day there were tomboys and sissys. In cases I observed (as a child) I saw overnurturing by a doting mother, and a father too busy with work to notice. Add in hormonal imbalance and trouble will follow. Many of the tomboys grew out of it. The sissys didn’t.
My younger brother certainly didn't ...
I was a tomboy, not an athletic one, just liked my cowboy hat, tricycle and squirt gun. (I may have been emulating Dale Evans)
Grew out of that and started playing with dolls when younger sister came along.
