The House Freedom Caucus on Tuesday announced its full support of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who is being accused by several former Ohio State University wrestlers of turning a blind eye to sexual assault allegations while he was a coach there.
Jim Jordan is a man of integrity, and we believe him and stand with him 100 percent, the Freedom Caucus tweeted. If he had seen or heard something, he would have acted.
About a dozen former wrestlers have gone on the record in the past week with allegations that Jordan knew former OSU team doctor Richard Strauss acted inappropriately with young athletes. The wrestlers claim Jordan talked about Strausss behavior, and even said, If he tried that with me, I would kill him, yet did nothing to stop it.
Jordan has repeatedly denied the allegations, claiming he would have spoken up if he knew about Strausss behavior.
14 former OSU wrestlers have gone on the record in defense of Jordan, as well as six former OSU wrestling coaches.
Strauss, who died in 2005, has been accused of sexually assaulting more than a thousand young athletes from fifteen varsity sports.
High-ranking members of the GOP have emerged in recent days in support of Jordan, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
Jordan himself is a powerful GOP representative who many have floated as a possible replacement for current Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who will not be seeking another term in Congress.
Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) told reporters on Tuesday night that every member of the conservative group agreed to back Jordan.
Jim Jordan is a man of integrity and honor who always fights for the underdog, Meadows said. "Any story that would suggest that he is someone who is not willing to fight for those who have been disadvantaged is just not accurate based on the man I've come to know and admire.
While many of the wrestlers who claim Jordan knew about Strauss have stipulated they believe Jordan is a good guy and friend, most of them have said Strausss behavior was an open secret that Jordan couldnt have ignored.
Former OSU wrestler Mike DiSabato, who made the original allegations against Strauss, told NBC he considered Jordan a friend.
But at the end of the day, he is absolutely lying if he says he doesnt know what was going on, DiSabato said.
Jordan said he has not ruled out a bid for Speaker.
Good!!
So Am I
Jim Jordan will make the best Speaker of all time. He’ll go for it and get it.
Jordan for SOTH.
Don’t know about the Freedom people but I know I’m a 100% behind Jordan and so are my friends!!!
The only way I could be upset at Jim Jordan would be if he surrendered in any manner to the mutts nipping at his heals!
I’ll be praying Jim Jordan goes for and wins the House leadership position.
I don’t know their ages, but if these men weren’t minors, might not interfering (supposing Jordan had had an inkling, which I believe him when he says he didn’t) in their “affairs” have been construed as “homophobia”? I mean, if they were old enough to be consenting adults? And if they were adults, and they didn’t consent, wouldn’t it still be incumbent upon them as adults to speak out on their own behalf?
I’m getting pretty sick of these 30 year old “(s)he said/he said” claims that by their very nature cannot be proven false and are dredged up just when a conservative candidate is running for something.
Notice how the author dishonestly couches the competing account password of the wrestlers. The accusers are “about a dozen former wrestlers,” while Jordan’s support person are identified as “14 former OSU wrestlers and six OSU wrestling coaches.” The implication being the accusers are also from OSU, although there is no indication who these people are or where they wrestled. How do we know they aren’t paid to make anonymous accusations? We don’t. Until they produce their names and dates of attendance, this smells like bullsh*t.

Someone always just cant leave well enough alone and has to come along and bring up facts and common sense at the same time.
It’s way past time that a man of principle stood up to the leftist smear machine. Jeffords will be that man. They picked on the wrong guy this time and will pay the price.
Paul Ryan had probably expect Jim Jordan to have withdrawn his name from consideration and gone into hiding by now.
Jeffords jumped.
Jordan will not ;-)
I agree....Jim Jordan is the WRONG guy to pick on.
Lyin Paul Ryan needs to go into hiding. For good.
I hope his goodbye isn’t as long as McStain’s.
This setup is even sleazier than their standard op.
The doctor’s dead, the complainants said nothing for over 20 years and they are known frauds. Yet because the left owns the media, they are emboldened enough to smear a real patriot like Jordan in this fashion even though there is not an ounce of truth to their allegations. It’s sickening.
Oops. A little careless there. My bad.
Since they were all in college, all of them, bar none, were 18 years old or older; probably older than 18!
But here's the test: Lisa Page is thumbing her nose at him and the rest of the committee by refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena.
Rep. Jim Jordan Verified account @Jim_Jordan Follow Follow @Jim_Jordan More Lisa Page ignores congressional subpoena, once again showing the double standard. One set of rules for regular Americans, a different set for the Swamp! 8:54 PM - 10 Jul 2018
OK Congressman Jordan - are you going to show leadership or be a wuss? If she's not there, cite her for Contempt of Congress and ask for a warrant for her arrest. Throw her ass in jail or you may as well shut down the hearings if federal employees are free to ignore oversight committee subpoenas. You have the means at your disposal - use them! Anything less and you'll be no better than Issa, Gowdy, and all the rest of the "all hat, no cattle" gang.
The politically persecuted make great leaders.
Jim Jordan is a political dissident. Tested they make the best leaders.
Jordan for Speaker.
It could be the sodomite version of the hashtag, perhaps MoiAussie, said with the ever-popular duckface lip pose.
