A wonderful contrast from Bush who passed that law they were locked up under. A rancher lighting a backburn to protect his house is not islamic terrorism.

Exactly! But also - would most of the candidates who ran, including Cruz (who I voted for) even NOTICE the injustice? And if they noticed, would they have overruled their big government prosecutors and DONE anything? I think not!

Glad my guy lost the primary...

Presidents don't pass laws, Congress does.

The problem wasn't the law, it was the sentencing.

The Hammonds were convicted and sentenced to time served, but the appeals court kicked it back, noting that there was minimum sentence. The original court would rehear the case and re-sentence the Hammonds to the minimum 5 years, less the time already served.

If you want to point the finger, it is the republicans who have implemented minimum sentencing because they complain that liberal judges always give short sentences.
