Good post.
My assemblyman in Albany, Danny O’Donnell, has been fighting the misuse of solitary, especially for young inmates, who are more mentally affected by the situation. This piece points out, correctly, that there are good arguments against most of the reasons prisoners are kept in solitary. It is used as a punishment.
And here we have the worst misuse of solitary as punishment: as an aid in the treasonous vendetta against an elected president.
If Manafort was suborning witnesses, that is of course reprehensible but it can be prevented by any number of other means.
One problem is the prison guards’ union, which fights any reform in this direction. I guess they claim it makes their job harder and puts them at risk. To this I say, Tough donuts. Don’t walk in the parade and say “We Do It for You” and then become the 21st Century Nazis.
I believe putting the screws to Manafort is Mueller’s last straw to grab. His mission is to hang Trump. Apparently he thought he could do it or he wouldn’t have taken the assignment. Now, after more than a year he doesn’t have anything. But he can’t stop now and clear Trump so he’s trying to get Manafort to do a video affidavit reading a script of lies about Trump. He’s hoping he will crack before the midterms.
Or Mueller may have other lies he’ll spring in October. And if the rinos think Mueller has him they’ll be estatic. My hope is he was put there by God and only God can take him out.
