" ... More than ever, the court is in danger of becoming viewed as an instrument of politics rather than an independent, nonpartisan branch of government ... "

Then democrats should be pleased to have more justices who interpret the non-political Constitution rather than interpreting Politics and writing laws that support one side's politics. So I am very happy for the democrats, as they are getting what they say they want. But I suspect they are lying about what they want.

The Democrats have viewed the Supreme Court as an instrument of politics at least since the New Deal (when FDR tried to expand the Court so he could pack it with justices who would vote as he wanted).

Easier to "fundamentally transform" America by 5-4 votes in the Supreme Court than by getting legislatures to vote for laws that most of the public doesn't like.

The funny thing is that the Court has been an instrument of politics ever since FDR first convinced five of their number to screw over the American people, their oaths of office, and even the very nature of the sort of Republic we’d been up until that point.

All for Arbitrary governance.

The Court has been too close to where you buy the justice you want.

That was the most ridiculous claim in the entire ridiculous article. Think the writers had to snicker while making this passage?
