Just this morning, I visited a long-time client in Stamford, CT. The owner is a bigtime Democrat and knows the James Comey family personally (he has a home in nearby Westport). But we had a very pleasant meeting and I thanked him for his business all these years (and we are picking up another big order later this month).
But I separate my politics from my business. I would never harass a client because they have different political beliefs. Nor would I ever let a client know mine unless I was 100% sure we were on common ground (and I have a few of those as well).
Sounds like he is a good man - and so are you.
One memorable occasion was at a restaurant I frequented 2-3 times a week. The owner was visibly perturbed at two teenagers speaking badly of American soldiers, not knowing I understood every damn word.
I told the owner no problem, with a smile. As I left the restaurant, I went over to the two teens, and said in meine beste Deutsche sprechen , I know a few Americans that think Germans are real a$$holes, too!
The look on their faces was priceless, as were the owners guffaws.
If I were Miller, I would have made the manager aware of his bartenders rudeness, and give him a chance to correct it.
