Americans might have to skimp on maple syrup for a while.
Michigan makes far better maple syrup. For years I have read that we could produce tons more here. This is our opportunity.If you need links for buying excellent Made in Michigan maple syrup let me know.
We are fifth in MS production commercially..my neighbor taps his own and we are considering it too. We use only 1% of our vast sugar maple forests currently. Just imagine how easily we could do without Canadian MS. Buy Michigan if you like.
Not so sure about that. We extract a lot of raw syrup right here in SW Pennsylvania. Much of it is shipped to Vermont where it is refined and sold as “Vermont Maple Syrup” which, for some odd reason, fetches a higher retail price than “New Hampshire Maple Syrup” or the perfectly fine equivalents in ME, NY or PA.
