100% agree.

Our four adult kids were all homeschooled. We also ate nearly every dinner as a family. At dinner, we discussed the issues of the day and the kids learned our opinions on those. We didn’t always agree on stuff but for the most part we did.

We also taught the virtue of serving others. Two kids are volunteering at a summer youth camp right now. One for a week and the other for the entire summer. One had to cancel because she just started a new job and can’t take the time off just yet.

Serving others is a distinctly conservative virtue. Having others serve others is a liberal virtue.

Good on ya’. Family dinners so important. I had the good fortune growing up to attend Department of Defense schools, still today cuts above the mess of the public schools. I have some left of center friends who do significant community service, but they are old school Southern Democrats, a dying breed, I think.
