Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said the Trump administration had trapped children in a “bureaucratic cave” with his zero-tolerance policy on immigration which caused some families to be separated after crossing the border illegally.
Referencing the children being saved from a cave in Thailand, Durbin said, “Before I get into that, our hearts and prayers are with those boys in Thailand, trapped in the cave. I hope our hearts and prayers are also with thousands of children, toddlers and infants, removed from their parents by the Trump administration, under zero tolerance. They’re trapped in a bureaucratic cave, too. Let’s not forget them.”

But this shocked me a bit, to compare the literal life and death situation of kids trapped in a cave, to the metaphor that somehow kids at the border are like the kids in a cave.

Unsaid is the idea that, if the democrat party of durbin were in charge of the rescue, they would first form a multi-billion dollar agency, stocking the upper echelons with cronies and relatives with no experience, force unionization on all employees, mandate a months-long “bias, sensitivity and white privilege” training, ensure that the rescue party “looked like America” rather than that it had any expertise, and in a couple of years, once the boys died of starvation, blame the failure on President Trump.
