Why would dedicating yourself totally to God be a bad idea?
In my view, yes! If you believe in the Bible, you have to believe in the purpose for which we were “put here.” Foregoing the basic reasons for so doing, I believe to be operating at crossed purposes to some those same teachings. I guess it's fine if you feel that somehow being celibate “get’s you closer to God," but that's not how I view it.
As they're taking themselves out of the gene pool, this couldn't be a good idea for Christianity.
