And that is why conservative-minded folks don’t run for office.

My model for behavior of the parties is now null and void. That’s the way it SHOULD work but we’re too far gone for it to be like that.

Now Conservatives must push laws and the passing of new rules and concepts. Were I there, I would have to push laws that brought us back to a certain point that myself and my constituents were comfortable with.

Like running on the platform on returning to a gold standard. I don’t know why this isn’t in our conversation anymore. A flat tax and the return to the gold standard would insulate us from any kind of trade war with China.

Countries would prefer to do business with us even if our prices were higher.

Trump _appears_ to have come to the same conclusion as I: Why would ANYONE want to be the leader of a nation of poor, suffering people ? Something I couldn’t figure out about Obama. Why would anyone want to make their country poorer and worse on the world stage ? Of course Obama knew this. Only problem is that he wasn’t pulling for our success - he was pulling for the success of the Islamic world.

Trump wants to create a better America for his kids and grandkids. And that’s great to me, because I have kids too. We’re at the same table, speaking the same things here.

My previous post is about things as they were. It was a time when there was no (or very little) animosity to the other party. Everyone came to work to do what they were voted in to do. The President’s job was to preside over these meetings and this workday to make sure that their methods and maneuvers checked out.

The last hold-out of this sort of pure government was Calvin Coolidge. When he was gone and FDR came in they changed everything about the position and the roles of legislators. They became celebrities. Now that’s what we’re stuck with. These people aren’t anything like the men who started this country in any way at all.
