You provide an excellent example of why the right generally loses. "Everything right now or I'll take my ball and go home".
The left really is smarter than folks like you and most of the anti-abortion crowd - you all would rather have nothing than have a little now, a little bit more later, and more after that.
Incrementalism and the long game is what wins. Not that 'all or nothing' mentality that has lost us so much ground over the last century.
That is so right on, it’s scary.
The left doesn’t quit, even after massive defeats.
The right is always looking to “call in sick”, take vacations, or just never show up unless everything is handed to them immediately. And when we do win, we act like it was no big deal.
It’s like I said a while back. The left will go in every day to the bakery and get slices of bread until they get the whole loaf. The right walks in with 25 cents in its pocket, demands the bakery, all of the back profits, the recipes, and the baker’s house, and if they dont get it right then, they will run out into the road, shout “it’s all useless! The world doesn’t deserve me!!!”, and then light themselves on fire.
I haven’t been this insulted all week.
But let me address your point of view. A point of view that I feel is poisonous.
The two parties have a job. And that job is singular when it’s reduced to it’s core.
A Democrat pushes to convert the country from a Republic towards a Democracy - where everyone has an equal vote.
A Republican fights to keep it as a Republic.
Democrats are designed to change our government. The Republicans fight to conserve this government.
I don’t mean to patronize you. You know all of this. But here is what it means:
The only and I mean ONLY job of a Conservative Republican is to say NO. The only job of the Democratic Progressive is to change that government even slightly. Any change is a win for Democrats. And every time any law fails to pass it’s a win for the Republicans.
A republican’s job is to say NO. That’s why we vote them in. If you like the way things are, vote Republican. If you want to change things vote Democrat.
So your idea that we as Conservatives need to accept changes incrementally may be in your heart, but it is not in the system. Our job is to say NO.
This whole “No” versus “Lets change something” is not an enemy thing. We aren’t enemies. It’s how the republic operates. We should all be sitting down at the end of the day sharing a beer and being friends.
Anytime a law passes, it’s a failure of the Conservative.
The big picture is revealed by the detestable but accurate Guttmacher Institute, here (LINK)
.
The number of abortion restrictions passed by states since 2011, after a Republican wave election swept through statehouses across the country.

`
The percentage of all US counties that lacked an abortion clinic in 2014; 39 percent of women aged 15-44 lived in those counties.

`
“Incrementalism and the long game is what wins.”
Wow...there is so much truth in that statement. A brief review of the leftist attack on America for the last 60 or 70 years proves your point. They GRADUALLY attacked and took over our entire education system, our entire media , even our corporations, and all the while we patiently and ignorantly “tolerated” them. Well, we may have “tolerated” ourselves to death.
