Black activists are praising the Department of Justices announcement on Tuesday that the Obama-era, race-based college admission guidance to further advance affirmation action law would end. In the 21st century, we shouldnt be making race a basis for who gets into school and who doesnt, Project 21 Co-Chairman Horace Cooper, a former professor of constitutional law at George Mason University and senior counsel to congressional leadership, said in statements from Project 21 members distributed to the media.
The Supreme Court has never held that affirmative action in admissions should be a generic remediation tool for all past racial injustice, Cooper said. Such an approach is no better than the injustice of segregation-based school admissions.
The Obama Administration pressured schools to do just that, Cooper said. Now President Trump is moving us away from that approach back to the color-blind vision of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Ive always felt that acceptance to higher education should be merit-based and means-tested, Project 21 member Dr. Carol M. Swain, a former professor at Vanderbilt University and Princeton University, said in a video statement. I believe President Trump is wise to rescind the aggressive Obama-era affirmative action directive for the use of race in student admissions.

Changing minds, hearts, and norms to common sense. This is what #Winning looks like.
The liberal white administration in universities will still do it.
Good for them
Everyone wants anyone with the will and ethic to succeed. This notion that “diversity” is somehow an excuse for racist-based admissions is terrible, hypocritical. It has alot to do with the division we see today.
Let’s see kids buckle down, teachers go back to teaching, administrators administer, and supply adequate and efficient funding in all public schools so they have an honest shot at making something of themselves, rather than be kowtowed to by politicized guilt ridden deans, etc who quite honestly don’t give a damn otherwise
Affirmative Action cannot coexist with a Great Nation.
Thanks to affirmative action, it goes unsaid, but black graduates are viewed with suspicion and not taken seriously. Many competent black professionals absolutely abhor affirmative action and guilt ridden preferential treatment to minorities. It makes them and their real accomplishments suspect. Bad enough to live with racism, worse to be dismissed as somebody’s pet.
All of affirmative action has to stop.
Excellent post! That is what they believe, IMHO!
Don’t get too excited about this article. Members of Project 21 are the good guys and don’t have their heads up their rear. We used to hear about them often on this site.

There are a few questions on many entrance forms at colleges, employment applications, etc... that need to be rescinded as well.
I never heard this until a guest host on Laura’s show. A caller said her father was given the chance by a black man to get a big construction contract if the front man was black. Otherwise, no non person of color could get the set aside deal.
I never heard this because everyone covers it up and is afraid to courageously tell us:
Some blacks and women take bribe money as the only way to allow fully qualified by merit contractors to get contracts that are affirmative action set asides and act as the front man or front woman listed. Replacement for the 1930s Capone mob and the 1950s-1990s organized crime mobs.
Think also of the total inferiority of unqualified companies getting the contracts in place of better ones, and the building, bridge, overpass, road or other item is a piece of junk.

Excellent. As a black man who probably benefitted from affirmative action in university admissions I could not agree more.
The lefties will still find a way to do it. We should cut off their funds.
